My latest backyard tenant running fast from the dogs.
The black squirrel is a melanistic subgroup of the Eastern Grey Squirrel. They are common in the Midwestern United States, Ontario, Quebec, parts of the Northeastern United States and Britain.

Eti, I have missed you. I have only seen these black squirrels in Canada.. I have never seen them down here! Anyways, your photos make me laugh too! I grew up in NYC, and we had lots of squirrels wherever there were trees, but all were grey. First black one I saw was in suburban Philadelphia around 1990, and now they're becoming more common. With global warming, I would have though squirrels would have become lighter rather than darker; wonder what Nature is up to... v
